The 7.2 channel AV7005 gives you superb audio quality because all audio signals are treated with delicate care via the Marantz-own HDAM modules before being passed to the XLR outputs and the separate power amp. In addition, all audio signals enter the DSP in a variety of ways to ensure that all channels are kept completely separate, thus eliminating interfering ‘channel crosstalk’. For example, you can route the audio signal via the network jack for streaming music from your PC or Internet radio. Alternatively, you can route it via one of the six HDMI1.4a inputs, one of which is hidden behind the front flap for easy access. Here you can also find the iPod-digital-compatible USB input and a second double line display, which complements the famous elegant circular display with more detailed information. The AV7005 also takes supreme care of 3D video signals, even in stand-by mode, and sends them to the two HDMI1.4a output sockets. And there is even a Phono MM input – ideal for those precious vinyls. It supports all the latest sound formats including Audyssey DSX by using the Sharc 32Bit signal processor from Analog Devices, also for handling the MultEQ XT auto calibration. It’s all there, just waiting to perform.

The new MM7055 is the five-channel option in this year’s extended line-up of main amplifiers. The new SR7005 AV Receiver with 7x 125W into 8 ohms keeps cross channel contamination to an absolute minimum for ultra-precise signal processing. The “muscle” power of the system comes from the current feedback circuitry with Marantz HDAMs and an oversized low impedance transformer for rapid current supply. Not even extreme demands for power will pull the SR7005 off balance. The “brain” of the system is the latest 400Mhz Sharc DSP, which easily handles HD audio decoding including the Audyssey DSX and the MultEQ XT room calibration. The source signal can be either digital or analogue, and it can also be from a wide variety of inputs. First of all, via the six HDMI 1.4a inputs, one of which is hidden behind the front flap for easy access. For new media there is a iPod-digital-compatible USB input, while the RJ45 Network jack provides connection to vTuner Internet radio and music services such as Napster and last.fm. Classical analogue signals will come from the built-in FM tuner or via either the analogue input jacks or the Phono equalizer: which is ideal for vinyls. With the famous Marantz circular display, the new SR6006 looks a lot like
its big brother – the SR7005. But the resemblance doesn’t stop there. For example, it has the same networking facilities for audio streaming, Internet radio, and AirPlay from any iDevice. Building on 2010’s hugely successful NR1601, this new 7.1-capable Receiver delivers room-filling quality sound thanks to the discrete built 7x 50 W RMS output stages. Obviously, the compact design is not at the expense of power, nor of features. When “What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision?” gave our PM6003 the “Best amplifier in its class” award, the performance bar was well and truly raised for its successor: the PM6004. Fortunately, Marantz design engineers enjoy nothing better than a real challenge. And they seized this upgrade opportunity to further improve this already excellent amplifier by refining the sound and optimising the balance from Bass to Mid to Highs for a performance full of harmony. The strategic difference is that now both the pre-amplification and power amplification sections exclusively feature discrete components – not a single IC in sight. Specially selected single components not only outperform ICs in quality, they also make it possible to refine the sound in much more detail, resulting in more clarity and transparency in the sound stage. Of course the lower impedance Toroidal transformer with case-shield has been retained, so too has the customized main capacitors, and the potential power transistor which is mounted on the extruded aluminium heat sink and can easily handle higher currents to keep close control of speakers. All of this proven, superior technology has been retained. And of course all of the original features - such as six-line audio input including phono, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a remote handset - are still there.
